The creation of Chicago LP branch locations

photoThe Chicago Libertarian Party Meetup Group

Welcome fellow members of the Libertarian Party Chicago.  This message is the 1st official notice that the Libertarian Party Chicago is planning on creating 4 new branches of the group.  Earlier, many of you voted on your choice for alternate locations for meeting places that better fit your schedule or would be closer to get to.  That being said, the 4 general locations are: The loop, Bucktown/Wicker Park, Jefferson Park/Edison Park, and Edgewater/Rogers Park.

What we are looking for are members to establish these 4 new branch groups to expand the presence of the Libertarian Party of Chicago.  That being said, we need volunteers to fill the following positions for each of the  branches.  Once the group is established, you can hold elections to make changes as you see fit.

1.       President:  to run meetings, help establish the new location and make quarterly contact with main Libertarian Party of Chicago group.

2.      Fundraiser:  Raise funds to help run the group.  We ask that each of the groups consider giving a portion of their funds raised to the main Chicago Libertarian group on a quarterly basis. The amount to be determined by the members of the new group, when funds become available.

3.      Treasurer:  Safe-keeps the funds collected.

4.      Membership:  To increase the number of members that join the LP Chicago and attend the meetings of the new location/group.

5.      Web designer:  Someone who can create and update the new group’s website that will be based off the template of the Chicago Libertarian web page; though personal touches/changes are recommended.

Please reply to this post to indicating which new location you would be interested in becoming an officer for.  I will gather up all posts and messages and get people in touch with each other that have indicated they want to form the branch in the same area.  Please reply by 4/23/2011

Thanks for your participation,

James

Special membership location information search. Please choose one location

photoThe Chicago Libertarian Party Meetup Group

This is a special meetup announcement that is asking for every member to indicate (in their RSVP) what location they live in. We are only asking for general areas and not for addresses. There will be 8 choices to choose from. In your RSVP, please indicate the number first, which will represent the area most convenient for you to attend future meetings and then any other comments you might have.

***Please note that this is not to replace the location of the current monthly business meetings. Rather, this is designed to help the group determine if there is a desire for satellite Libertarian of Chicago groups that would feed into the main group; more of a hub and spoke system.

Here are your choices. Please choose the one that best suits your needs. A follow up meeting announcement will be sent when totals are tallied shortly after February 1st.

1. Lakeview/Lincoln Park/Lincoln Square area
2. Edison Park/Jefferson Park area
3. Rogers Park/Edgewater area
4. North or South Austin/Western Chicago
5. Loop
6. Bridgeport area
7. South West Chicago/Midway area
8. South/South East Chicago

We do realize that the ares available may not be perfect, but we need to start somewhere in this research.

The hope is that if we can get enough people to attend satellite meetings, hopefully at least every other month; we can then have one person act as the representative for that group who can attend the main business meetings at least once a quarter for updates about activities and fund raising.

Thanks in advance for your participation. The information we gather will really help the party to expand and offer better choices for our members in the fight for freedom and liberty.

How do principled, limited govt candidates plan to win in IL?

photoThe Chicago Libertarian Party Meetup Group

Join the America’s Future Foundation (AFF) to discuss how principled, limited government candidates plan on winning in Illinois.

As conservative and libertarian activists set their sights on November’s elections, AFF wants to know how principled limited government and free market-oriented candidates plan to win in the deep blue state of Illinois. How are the next generation of candidates making the case for votes in largely liberal areas?

To answer that question, we’ve invited four young candidates for public office to talk about their campaign strategies leading into the fall elections. Our roundtable panelists are:

Angel Garcia, GOP candidate for Cook County Clerk
Joel Pollak, GOP candidate for Illinois’s 9th Congressional District
Adam Robinson, GOP candidate for the 7th Illinois Senate District
Ed Rutledge, Libertarian Party candidate for Illinois Lt. Governor (and Chair of the Libertarian Party of Chicago)

RSVP to Richard Lorenc, at Richard@americasfuture.org

Admission is free, but the bar will be open (credit cards only)
